Explore Culture and Ecology in Traditional Houses on Green Island
Welcome to an exciting adventure on Green Island, where you can immerse yourself in the traditional houses and experience the unique food culture, such as peanut candy and homemade dried bonito, while also finding a new home for hermit crabs.
The Green Island houses, known as "Green Island Cuo," are renovated traditional houses with low ceilings, thick walls, and small windows and doors. The front yard features a kitchen and livestock sheds. The main house preserves the original walls and roof structure and serves as a display area for local souvenirs, showcasing Green Island's agricultural products and related experiential activities. Here, you'll find peanuts, dried mustard greens, bonito utensils, and hermit crab shells. The area is also adorned with locally unique octopus kites, made by halving fresh octopuses and attaching them to bamboo poles with wire for even drying.
